Current battery tech in EVs suffers limited range, slow to charge, and from volatility when damaged making it incredibly difficult for emergency services to suppress. Thankfully, solid state battery tech promises to improve much here, delivering much extended range, reduced charging times and solve the volatility issue.
When I first heard of solid state batteries I decided I’d hold out purchasing an EV awaiting their arrival, it was suggested a potential late 2026 arrival, now looking highly optimistic at best. Instead, it is sadly looking like the tech may be years from arrival. Perhaps ready for my next novated lease, I’ll take the glass half full approach!
