Initial Review: Hyundai Elexio Elite

I picked up my car this morning, and after signing a few forms to finish the process it was over to look at the car and be shown around.

When I had briefly looked at the demo car outside the dealership it was a different exterior and interior colour to my own, so to see the Crystal White with Dove Grey today I was happy with my choice in the end, especially the interior leather colour which looks wonderful.

After being shown around the exterior and boot features, it was into the front seat to be shown around the myriad of tech that awaited. The steering wheel has so many levers and buttons; I’m having to adjust to non-European controls after being on BMW for several years.

Adding Bluelink to connect my iPhone with the car was perhaps a tad onerous, many steps and authentication requests that I think could definitely be simplified a great deal. But, once connected it has worked well and I could lock and unlock my car. I absolutely love that it recognises my phone and unlocks the car when beside it.

Voice control, using both the car and Siri worked flawlessly. I had seen many reviewers commenting on no buttons and wondered why they didn’t discuss the use of voice commands to change temperatures, open apps, or do a myriad of things rather than rely upon touch when driving, it just seems common sense to me.

Such a nice ride and glorious screen

It is so nice to have charging pads in the car, I’d just purchased a stronger MagSafe one for my BMW which lacked these as the older MagSafe charger would occasionally drop my iPhone on bumpy roads — I don’t fear this happening in the Elexio.

The drive is great, and when my music quietened down for a second I could finally (not) hear my car as I drove, such a weird sensation. I’m adjusting to regenerative braking and need to read how this works some, but did find putting into the car’s sports mode it felt good, though yet to try other modes and understand their working.

One happy new driver.
