It’s not until you experience driving this way that you can truly appreciate how good it is, but also how unnerving it is that first time and the temptation to flit that right foot to the brake.
When looking to set it up in my EV, it wasn’t just a case of turn it on and it just worked, it took a bit of experimentation of driving modes and playing with the regenerative braking settings before I found that sweet spot that I didn’t feel like removing my foot from the accelerator might see me plow into the back of someone.
My initial attempt the settings were just really weak and to be honest I could be sure it was turned on, if it were the braking being applied was very soft. I then increased the regenerative braking, but still it felt lacking. Driving later that day, I went into my car’s settings, specified I wanted to drive in sports mode, then I increased the regenerative braking several times and since doing this I have found one-pedal driving mode has been entirely responsive when I take my foot off the pedal; driving is now very pleasurable.
