So, I’ve finally started digging into the menus of my new Hyundai Elexio Elite, and honestly, the sheer volume of customisation is mind-boggling. As someone who loves tracking the latest smartphone and smartwatch specs, exploring the digital menus on the Elexio’s massive 27-inch 4K display feels right up my alley. But here’s the strange part: so many of the features they actually advertise the car having must be manually turned on!
Take the smart power tailgate, for example. The automatic boot open—where you just stand behind the car for three seconds and it pops open for you—is a seriously useful feature. Yet, it isn’t turned on by default. You actually have to go digging through the interface to activate it.
I’ve also just noticed that the adaptive cruise control can be set to adapt to speed signs. I’ve enabled it, though I don’t yet know how well this works in practice. I’ll have to test it out soon.
Then there are the sound settings. You can have the audio dynamically adapt to the ambient car noise. There are various levels to choose from; I’ve selected ‘normal’ to start with, though, surprisingly, this was also switched off from the factory.
By the time I finish this lease in five years time, I have a feeling I might just have finished finding all the settings tucked away in there. It really puts into perspective how much cars have transformed into rolling computers over the past several years!
