The silence

The other night I lay here in bed, my window open and there wasn’t a sound to be heard at night. Admittedly I’m in rural Australia and not a major city like Sydney where this would be unheard of, but even for us here in Wagga Wagga there’s nighttime traffic. Instead, utter silence.

I made a sarcastic post that night to Facebook: “Window open, utterly quiet outside. I’m assuming everyone’s driving EVs, either that or petrol’s run out”. It garnered a few laughs.

But it has my thinking, what will our future sound like when ICE vehicles are no longer and the world has transitioned to these quieter modes of transport. The vehicle noise we’ve come to accept in daily life far reduced?
