I’ve signed up tonight with Tesla to I can take advantage of member rate charging at their superchargers, just $0.51 per kWh. I did a rough calculation that were I to charge the car right now at this rate with it currently sitting at 39% charge (88.1kWh total battery) and charging to 80% it would cost approximately $18.42.
Conversely, refuelling my BMW recently I was paying a similar amount as I was being limited on what I could put into the tank in some places, getting just 7 litres diesel in most cases for this dollar amount above. of course it will be a case of seeing whether charging pans out to that amount or not, but even close to that blows me away at how little it is, I was expecting more given not at-home charging.
