This morning was a cold one in Wagga Wagga, as I left the home and approached the car I clung to my woollen scarf for that extra warmth. For certain, I was grateful the Elexio had the heated steering wheel today as my older car didn’t offer this feature and I’d be waiting for the heater to remove the chill from the cabin, instead my hands are quickly warmed and soon after warm air begins filling the cabin, certainly quicker than it may have in the BMW.
Though I digress from the reason for this posting. As I drove away for a much needed coffee, the auto defogger feature had curiously failed to turn on this morning, so after initially clearing away the now heavily fogged screen with my microfibre cloth, I fumbled my fingers at the button on the screen to turn on said feature; I ended up pulling over to do so in the end.
Which beggars the question — if you’re going to move all physical buttons to digital, should you make your driver’s access to these a slimline vertical panel that doesn’t respond well to their touch? Or, should these be a larger, more easily accessed group of buttons on the display that the driver can easily touch with large touch zones? I know which I prefer yet do not have.
I think some countries are now mandating physical buttons be restored in vehicles, I understand why after today. I just think these work better for everyday common access. Thoughts?
