Driving today to Canberra was really the first time I had to truly try out my Elexio’s cruise control functionality. Though I have used it a few times before it was only for short trips whereas today I was using over a multi-hour drive.
My drive today really did give me occasion to test how easy it was to modify the speed on the fly, and draw comparison with my BMW X1.
Today’s route ended up having quite a few roadworks with many speed adjustments required, frustratingly the Elexio’s system is rather slow to reflect requested changes, problematic potentially where police may have a camera in the area.
Conversely, when adjusting the cruise control speed on my X1, I was able to understand quickly what the new speed was and the car adjusted far quicker than did the Elexio.
Where the Elexio comes out ahead is it has adaptive cruise control, though annoyingly with those anyone who overtakes you and closely passes your car then slows from the set speed to ensure a desirable distance is maintained. I’m sure newer X1’s also offer the same, mine is a 2017 model with a simpler system sadly.
